Dorian Gray - Matthew Bourne adapts Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture Of Dorian Gray into a dance

Matthew Bourne has adapted Oscar Wilde's novel, The Picture Of Dorian Gray into a dance, Dorian Gray.

The show will have its London premiere on 2 to 14 Sep 2008 at the Sadler’s Wells, following previews at Theatre Royal Plymouth on 14th – 16th August and its World premiere 22 to 30 Aug 2008, at the Edinburgh International Festival. Other UK venues includes Theatre Royal Norwich (16th - 20th Sep); Theatre Royal Newcastle (23 - 27 September 2008).

It is devised, directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, who is best known for his dance adaptations of Swan Lake, Nutcracker!, The Car Man, Edward Scissorhands and Play Without Words.

The cast includes Richard Winsor (Dorian Gray), Michela Meazza (Lady H), Aaron Sillis (Basil Hallward), Scott Ambler, Ashley Bain, Jared Hageman, Chris Marney, Shaun Walters.

Dorian Gray has music by Terry Davies, designed by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable, and produced by Edinburgh International Festival, Sadler’s Wells and New Adventures.

Set in the image-obsessed worlds of contemporary art and politics, this dark fairy tale tells the story of an exceptionally alluring young man who makes a pact with the devil. Amongst London's beautiful people, Dorian Gray is the "It Boy" - an icon of beauty and truth in an increasingly ugly world.
