Ruthie Henshall returns as 'Roxie Hart’ in Chicago 14 Dec


Ruthie Henshall will return to Chicago, to reprise the role of ‘Roxie Hart’ from Monday 14 Dec to 28 Feb 2010. Ruthie Henshall originated the role of ‘Roxie Hart’ in 1997.

For selected performances between 28 December – 2 January, Bonnie Langford will play the role of ‘Roxie’ for these performances. Bonnie comes to London direct from playing the role of ‘Roxie’ on Broadway.

Terra C MacLeod makes her London stage debut starring as ‘Velma Kelly’ on 14 December for a two-month season. She originated this role in the French productions of “CHICAGO”. She comes to the West End direct from starring as ‘Velma’ in the New York and National USA productions of “CHICAGO”.

Ruthie Henshall'sWest End stage credits include "Marguerite" at the Haymarket in 2008; "The Woman In White" at the Palace in 2005; "Peggy Sue Got Married" at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2001.

Chicago, opened at the Adelphi Theatre 18 Nov 1997, following previews from 27 Oct 1997, ending at the Adelphi theatre on 22 April 2006. It re-opened at the Cambridge Theatre on 28 April 2006, where it is currently taking bookings to 30 Oct 2010!

Chicago, is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

The musical concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
