Steps' H, Ian Watkins, in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from 2 March 2004


Ian Watkins known as 'H' from the former pop band "Steps", is to be the next Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from 2 March 2004 at the New London Theatre. He will take over from Andrew Derbyshire.

This production by Bill Kenwright, who also directs, is designed by Sean Cavanagh, choreographed by Henry Matcalfe with lighting by Nick Richings.

Also, from 2 March 2004, the show will no longer be performed on Mondays, instead replaced by an extra matinee on Thursdays.( Tue 7pm; Wed 2.30pm & 7.30pm; Thu 7.30pm ; Fri 5pm, & 8pm; Sat 2pm, 5pm, 8pm )

This production opened to good notices from the popular press in March 2003: LYN GARDNER for THE GUARDIAN says,"Full of bare-faced cheek and a highly developed sense of fun." SARAH HEMMING of FINANCIAL TIMES says, "Enjoyably brash and cheeky staging." PAUL TAYLOR for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Wonderfully warm-hearted, scenically lavish, and deliriously droll revival." JOHN MARTLAND for THE STAGE says, "An enjoyable experience ....top-notch production."

The musical retells the biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.

The show is currently taking bookings to 2 April 2005
