LAMDA productions in Old Vic Tunnels & Pleasance

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) has announced three productions. (All are free of charge)

Two productions are performed in repertoire at the Pleasance Theatre, in north London from 2 to 5 April and 24 to 26 April 2013.

Summerfolk by Maxim Gorky, translated by Nick Dear, directed by Bill Alexander, designed by Sara Perks. At the turn of the 20th Century a group of Russian friends retreat for their annual summer holiday in the countryside. United by their place in history as an emergent Russian middle class, but disparate in their political views and private lives, their friendship will never be the same again come autumn.

in repertoire with Earthquakes in London by Mike Bartlett, directed by Sarah Esdaile, designed by Sara Perks. How can you live in a state of constant impending catastrophe? Is hope possible, responsible even, when scientists and politicians are predicting environmental apocalypse? Earthquakes in London tracks the tremors of hedonism, terror and activism through the lives of three sisters and their estranged, misanthropic father.

One production is performed at the Old Vic Tunnels, Hidden beneath Waterloo Station, from 20 to 27 Feb 2013: Parade Book by Alfred Uhry; Music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown; Co-conceived by Harold Prince. Georgia, 1913. When Mary Phagan, a 13 year-old employee of a pencil factory, is found murdered the finger is pointed firmly at Brooklyn-born, Jewish factory manager, Leo Frank.
