Actress Sophiya Haque has died of cancer aged 41

Actress Sophiya Haque, who was starring in Privates On Parade at the Noel Coward Theatre, has died of cancer aged 41.

It is reported that she was diagnosed with cancer before Christmas and was suffering from pneumonia and is understood to have developed a clot on her lungs.

She is best known for playing barmaid Poppy Morales in TV series Coronation Street from December 2008 to June 2009. Her other London Stage credits include The Far Pavilions at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2005; Bombay Dreams at the Apollo Victoria in 2002-2004;
