Notes from New York present Notes in Heels at the Duchess Theatre on Sunday 6 April 2008


Notes From New York presents, Notes in Heels, at the Duchess Theatre for one night on Sunday 6 April 2008.

Continuing the Notes from New York philosophy of presenting hitherto unheard work in front of a West End audience, the show profiles the work of Georgia Stitt, Jenny Giering and Zina Goldrich, three flourishing female stalwarts of New York’s musical theatre scene.

Starring series regulars Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer, alongside newcomers Selina Chilton, Stuart Matthew Price and Amy Pemberton.

Julie Atherton recently originated the roles of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut in the West End production of Avenue Q. Her previous credits include the lead roles of Sophie in Mamma Mia and Serena in Fame, as well as Stiles & Drewe’s Just So in Chichester. Paul Spicer has played lead roles in The Witches of Eastwick, Fame and Taboo as well as creating his own solo show Something in Common.Selina Chilton recently played the title role in Marianne Dreams at the Almeida Theatre having previously played Kitty in the West End transfer The Drowsy Chaperone. Stuart Matthew Price made his professional debut in the UK premičre of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade at the Donmar Warehouse last year and Amy Pemberton, whose credits include Ariel in the West End cast of Footloose, will play Lorraine in the UK premičre of Jersey Boys at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Georgia Stitt, who has conducted numerous musicals on Broadway and across America, is wife to the previously featured Notes from New York composer Jason Robert Brown. She has written several musicals including The Water and Big Red Sun and she is also well known as an arranger, pianist and vocal coach. Her songs have been recorded by several Broadway stars such as Lauren Kennedy and Susan Egan and she recently released an album of her work entitled This Ordinary Thursday.

Jenny Giering’s musical The Mistress Cycle recently played at the Apple Tree Theatre in Chicago following a previous staging at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Her latest show Crossing Brooklyn received its world premičre in New York last year. She is currently writing Saint-Ex, a musical about the life of Antoine de Saint Exupery, author of The Little Prince. She also has a solo album called Look for Me and her songs have been recorded by artists including Audra McDonald.

Zina Goldrich, whose popular musical Junie B Jones will open Off Broadway later this year, is synonymous with her lyricist co-writer Marcy Heisler. Perhaps best described as singer-songwriters turned musical theatre composers, this inimitable pairing have won numerous awards for their songwriting talents and have also performed extensively at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Centre in New York. Their other shows include Dear Edwina, Adventures in Love and Allison Under.
