Jagged Fence Productions presents The Hostage, by Brendan Behan, at the Southwark Playhouse, a fringe venue in south London, from 3 to 20 Feb 2010.

Directed by Adam Penford, the cast includes Chris Aylmer, Jonathan Battersby, Charles De Bromhead, Emily Dobbs, Christopher Doyle, Stephanie Fayerman, Ben James-Ellis, Gary Lilburn, Oengus Mac Namara, Miles Mlambo, Jess Murphy, Rhiannon Oliver, Caitlin Shannon

It is designed by Morgan Large, with lighting by Emma Chapman.

It’s 1958. News that a young IRA man has been sentenced to death by the British reaches the whores, sailors, pimps and revolutionaries who reside in a seedy, Dublin boarding house. In retaliation, the IRA captures a Cockney soldier bringing him to the house. Tension mounts until the execution hour arrives and, with an explosive finale, the hostage’s fate is decided.
