Set in a simple city apartment, a father’s attempts to speak to his daughter fail to elicit a response, and eventually erupt in a shocking and tragic climax of paternal fury.

The Pope's Wedding, directed by Conrad Blakemore. The Pope’s Wedding is a falsely naturalistic drama set in the Essex countryside. Its title referring to an impossible ceremony, Bond’s play paints a portrait of a frustrated, inarticulate, and finally murderous country labourer, dramatising through tragic circumstance and the decline of rural society in the face of post-war urban advances.

In the cellar of a dull city dwelling Joan discovers a stranger living on her property, citing marching soldiers in the street as the reason for his presence. Demanding he provide an explanation, the stranger’s story unfolds before Joan in a manner both tragic and comic. The stranger's story changes her life forever. Soon Joan realises she too is an immigrant; an immigrant in her own country. Together, they seek a solution to their problem. Jack can offer them a new identity, a pass and a passage across the border to the North. But who is Jack and where will this transaction take them?

The Fool. Explores the artist’s place and role within contemporary society, illustrating the unfortunate fate of the artist in unjust surroundings. Focusing on the life of the 19th century, peasant poet John Clare, The Fool reinterprets Clare’s existence, making him advocate in his poetry of the spirit of the rural rebellion against growing industrial capitalism, the failure of this battle fuelling his eventual descent into madness.
