IN THE BLOOD , by Suzan-Lori Parks. Directed by Daniel Burgess. Produced by Lambert Maher Productions and Boomerang Theatre. The story of Hester La Negrita, mother to five children, of five fathers, who makes a home beneath a bridge on the streets of New York. Hounded by her need to provide a better future for her family, she bargains her hopes on the only people left in her world, and comes up short. (This production was originally only to perform Sunday & Mondays only, but will now play full weeks, after replacing the production of The Drawer Boy which has been postponed, due to the sudden indisposition of actor Kenneth Bryans.)

The Great Depression has taken hold and mass unemployment threatens to devastate the residents of Hanky Park. With their father out of work, the burden of keeping the family together falls to Sally Hardcastle and her brother, Harry, as they desperately fight to break free from the shackles of poverty.

When singer Jeanie and stage manager Larry are secretly married, they arouse the suspicion and jealousy of lighting technician and ex-boyfriend Bob. It’s chaos on stage, and unbridled passion back stage, but the show must go on…
