Carousel at Savoy from 22 Nov with Lesley Garrett


Following a UK tour, the Rodgers & Hammerstein 's musical Carousel, will open in the West End at the Savoy Theatre 2 Dec 2008, following previews from 22 Nov - booking to 25 July 2009, starring Lesley Garrett (Nettie), Jeremiah James (Billy Bigelow), Alexandra Silber (Julie Jordan).

Never Forget - The Take That Musical, currently playing at the Savoy, will now close on 15 Nov 2008, but is expected to transfer to another theatre!

Carousel is directed Lindsay Posner, designed by William Dudley , lighting by Peter Mumford, choreography by Adam Cooper, costumes by Deirdre Clancey, orchestrations by Larry Blank and musical direction by David Firman.

Carousel is the story of the love affair between Billy Bigelow, a smooth-talking carousel barker, and Julie Jordan, a naïve young mill worker. Songs include The Carousel Waltz, If I Loved You, June is Bustin’ Out All Over and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

It is produced by Kim Poster for Stanhope Productions, Michael Edward & Carole Winter, Tiger/WSZ, Stevens-O'Boyle, and Tulchin/Bartner/Ambassador Theatre Group in association with The Churchill, Bromley.

Lesley Garrett, who is one of Britain’s most popular sopranos. was recently at the London Palladium as the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music. Jeremiah James is best-known as a member of the internationally recording group, TEATRO, Jeremiah has also appeared in the Broadway productions of Legally Blonde: The Musical & The Full Monty. Alexandra Silber, was most recently at London’s Savoy Theatre in Fiddler on the Roof.
