Duncan James as Billy Flynn in Chicago from 2 July 2007 - Show now booking to 26 Jul 2008


Former Blue boy band star Duncan James is to star as Billy Flynn in Chicago from 2 July 2007. Also, the show announces a new 9 month booking period - tickets now on sale to 26 July 2008 at the Cambridge Theatre

29-year-old Duncan James, will play the role of Billy Flynn for a limited seven-week season to 18 Aug 2007. When boy band Blue split in 2005 James embarked on a solo career. He recently appeared in TV skating show Dancing On Ice.

Chicago currently stars Maxwell Caulfield (Billy Flynn, until 30 June), Josefina Gabrielle as ‘Roxie Hart’, Amra-Faye Wright as ‘Velma Kelly’, Matthew Lloyd Davies as ‘Amos Hart’, Susie McKenna as ‘Mama Morton’.

Chicago, opened at the Adelphi Theatre 18 Nov 1997, following previews from 27 Oct 1997, ending at the Adelphi theatre on 22 April 2006. It re-opened at the Cambridge Theatre on 28 April 2006

Chicago, is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

The musical concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
