Ray Quinn is ‘Danny’ in Grease from 11 May 2009

Singer and television star Ray Quinn, will play the lead role of ‘Danny’ in Grease, for a limited season from 11 May to 3 October 2009 at The Piccadilly Theatre

Ray Quinn, who made his West End debut as ‘Doody’ in Grease last year, is a former X-Factor finalist and has recently been seen on the popular ITV show Dancing on Ice.

Looking forward to his role in Grease, Ray says: “'I'm so thrilled to be playing 'Danny' in the West End. Grease is such an all time favourite and to be in the role made so famous by John Travolta is amazing- I can't believe my luck, it's a dream come true!”

Producer David Ian says: “I am absolutely delighted to have a performer of Ray’s stature in Grease. He has proven what an incredible talent he is on Dancing on Ice and I know he will truly thrill audiences as Danny Zuko”.

Grease opened at the Piccadilly Theatre on 8 Aug 2007, following previews from 25 July, to mostly poor notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, "How under-sexed, how under-done and under par." THE TIMES says, "Lacklustre production." THE INDEPENDENT says, "Completely unaffecting production...a jukebox masquerading as a musical."

Grease is written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, with additional songs B Gibb, J Farrar, L St Louis & S Simon.

It is directed by David Gilmore, choreography by Arlene Phillips, and produced by Paul Nicholas and David Ian by arrangement with Robert Stigwood.

Songs from the show include 'Grease (Is The Word)'; 'You're The One That I Want'; 'Greased Lightning'; 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' and 'Sandy'.

Grease is currently taking bookings to 31 Oct 2009 at the Piccadilly Theatre.
