Britain's Got Bhangra at Stratford East from 17 April


Britain's Got Bhangra, with lyrics by Dougal Irvine and music by Sumeet Chopra, at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, in east London, from 17 April to 16 May 2010.

Directed by Pravesh Kumar, designed by Simon Lima Holdsworth, lighting by Douglas Kuhrt, choreography by Andy Kumar, musical director Mark Collins

Produced by Theatre Royal Stratford East and RIFCO ARTS in association with Warwick Arts.

Cast includes Ankur Bahl (Ensemble); Arun Blair-Mangat (Jason); Rakesh Boury (DJ Lovely); Keeza Farhan (Ensemble); Rina Fatania (Bibiji); Sophia Haque (Shinde); Natasha Lewis (Jussi); Harveen Mann (Ensemble); Davina Perera (Ensemble); and Sunil Pramanik (Rocky).

Charts the rise of British Bhangra from the sequin clad 80s through to the RnB fusion of the current charts. Twinkle arrives fresh from the fields of the Punjab with a song in his heart and no money in his pocket. Can his talent shine through or will the remixed bling of the 90’s DJ’s ruin his dreams?
