Sucker Punch cast update at Royal Court Downstairs


Cast update for Sucker Punch, by Roy Williams, which opens at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs 18 June 2010, following previews from 11 June - running to 24 July 2010.

Daniel Kaluuya will play 'Leon' and Anthony Welsh plays 'Troy'. Further casting to be announced shortly.

Directed by Sacha Wares, designed by Miriam Buether, lighting by Peter Mumford, sound by Gareth Fry.

In the red corner: Leon Davidson – Black British champ or Uncle Tom? In the blue corner: Troy Augustus – American powerhouse or naïve cash cow? Two former friends step into the ring and face up to who they are. Sucker Punch looks back on what it was like to be young and Black in the 80s and asks if the right battles have been fought, let alone won.

Daniel Kaluuya’s London stage credits include "Oxford Street" at the Royal Court. His TV credits include "Skins", "The Philanthropist", "Doctor Who", "That Mitchell and Webb Look". "Bellamy's People", "Psychoville" and "Lewis".

Anthony Welsh’s London stage credits include "Pornography" at the Tricycle, "Supernova" at the Lyric Hammersmith and "The Brothers Size" at the Young Vic.
