"Absolutely!!(Perhaps)" with Joan Plowright in May 2003


Absolutely!!(Perhaps), by Luigi Pirandello, starring Joan Plowright & Oliver Ford Davies, opens at the Wyndham's Theatre on 20 May 03, following previews from 7 May 03, and booking to 23 Aug 03.

(Auntie & Me, which is currently playing at the Wyndham's will close on 26 Apr 03)

It is directed by directed by Franco Zeffirelli.

Joan Plowright, aged 73, is the widow of Laurence Olivier. She has performed most of the major roles in the classical theatre repertoire. She made her first stage appearance in 1951, and in 1956 joined the English Stage Company, starring in "The Country wife". She joined the National Theatre company at the Old Vic on its inception, playing 'Sonya' in Uncle Yanya, and the title role in "Saint Joan" in 1963. She has also had a very active film career, and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Enchanted April" (1991). Her current film credits include "Tea with Mussolini" (1999), directed by Franco Zeffirelli, who also directs this play!

Oliver Ford Davies' numerous London stage credits include "Racing Demon" at the National in 1994; "Naked" at the Almeida in 1998; and "King Lear" at the Almeida in 2002. His film credits include "Sense and Sensibility" "Mrs Dalloway" and the recent Star Wars films. His TV credits "Kavanagh QC" and "Inspector Morse".
