RSC's The Merry Wives of Windsor / Coriolanus at Old Vic 6 June 03


It is confirmed that the RSC's productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, and Coriolanus, directed by David Farr, will transfer into the Old Vic Theatre, in repertoire from 6 June 03 for a 12 week run .

Tickets expected to go on sale from 28 April 03

The shows played at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, and a 12 venue national tour. They have most recently played in the United States, at the Power Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Both productions were originated in association with the University Musical Society and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and have continued the RSC's programme of residencies in Michigan.

Duncan C Weldon and Paul Elliott, and The Old Vic, will be producing the shows during their London life.

Duncan Weldon said "I am delighted to be collaborating once again with the RSC on two such superb productions. This is a continuation of a long and fruitful relationship..... It is wonderful that the company are performing them in The Old Vic - the first RSC presentation there since our joint co production with the RSC of Adrian Noble's production of "Kiss Me Kate" in 1987."

Sally Greene said "It is very exciting to see the RSC back at The Old Vic after so many years; especially with these productions which have already enjoyed such great success internationally and all around the country"

The cast includes: Kate Best, Claire Carrie, Simon Coates, Richard Copestake, Lindsey Fawcett, Alison Fiske, Michael Gardiner, Greg Hicks, Chuk Iwuji, Keiron Jecchinis, Adam Kay, David Killick, Tom Mannion, Ciaran McIntyre, Karl Morgan, James O'Donnell, Patrick Romer, Lucy Tregear and Hannah Young.

The Merry Wives of Windsor is designed by Peter McKintosh, with music by Terry Davies and movement by Scarlett Mackmin.

Coriolanus is designed by Ti Green with music by Keith Clouston and movement by Lorna Marshall.

Both productions are lit by Hartley T A Kemp and sound designed by Gregory Clarke.
