Royal Court Announce Summer Season 2003


The Royal Court Theatre has announced its Summer Season 2003, which includes the following productions....

in the theatre Downstairs...

Fallout by Roy Williams, opens on 17 Jun 03, following previews from 12 Jun 03 and booking to 12 Jul 03. It is directed by Ian Rickson and features Lennie James.
A boy is found dead. D.C. Joe Stephens must return to his old neighbourhood to investigate. Shanice is avoiding his questions about her boyfriend, Emile, and his mates. Ronnie saw something, but promised Shanice she'd say nothing. But when a reward is offered, keeping quiet becomes a major test of their street loyalty.

Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks, opens on 11 Aug 03, following previews from 6 Aug 03 and booking to 30 Aug 03. It is co-produced with the Public Theater, New York, directed by George C. Wolfe, designed by Riccardo Hernandez, with lighting by Scott Zielinski. The play features Mos Def, Jeffrey Wright.
TOPDOG/UNDERDOG tells the story of two brothers, Lincoln and Booth. Their names, given to them as a joke, foretell a lifetime of sibling rivalry and resentment. Haunted by the past and their obsession with the street con Three Card Monte, the brothers are forced to confront the shattering reality of their future.

Flesh Wound by Che Walker, opens on 20 May 03, following previews from 15 May 03 and booking to 7 Jun 03. It directed by Wilson Milam, designed by Dick Bird, with lighting by Neil Austin.
Vincent is always in trouble, this time with the infamous Calderazzos. His sister Deirdra stays out of danger in her flat high above the streets of London. His father, Joseph, is in the protection business, but that doesn't mean protecting his own son. Now the family needs help, it's down to Joseph.

Food Chain by Mick Mahoney, opens on 23 Jun 03, following previews from 19 Jun 03 and booking to 12 Jul 03. It directed by Anna Mackmin.
Tony's doing well for himself, and his family. But what do you do when what you own is who you are?
