Norman Pace, Rolf Saxon, Zee Asha join cast of Chicago 24 Mar 03


Chicago, has announced major cast changes from 24 March 03 at the Adelphi Theatre.

Norman Pace will return to star as 'Amos Hart'. Rolf Saxon is to play 'Billy Flynn' and Zee Asha as 'Mama Morton'. Linzi Hateley will continue to star as 'Roxie Hart' and Tifanny Graves as 'Velma Kelly'.

Norman Pace reprises his role of 'Amos Hart' following his engagement in 1999. He is best known for his ITV comedy show 'The Hale and Pace Show.

Rolf Saxon's London theatre credits include "The Seven Year Itch" at the Queens in 2000, and "Pericles" and "The Winter's Tale" for the RSC at the Roundhouse last year.

Zee Asha has recently appeared in the musical "Taboo".

Chicago opened in London on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. It won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for 'Outstanding Musical Production' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for 'Best Musical'.

Chicago, which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

Concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
