The Elephant Man Cast Update at Trafalgar Studios
Cast update for Bernard Pomerance's The Elephant Man, which opens at the Trafalgar Studios Two 5 April 2007, following previews from 4 April - running to 5 May 2007.
Cast includes: Marc Pickering (Merrick ), Ayden Callaghan (Treaves), Leon Bearman, Katie Bonna, Ronald Fernee, Stephen Mcgill, Jennifer Taylor.
It is directed by Bruce Guthrie and designed by Natalie Powell. Produced by Ashley Herman and Sean Sweeney / Creative First productions
Based on the brief life of John Merrick. Abandoned as a child and shunned by society the horribly deformed Merrick survives as a freak show attraction until a famous young doctor rescues him from his life on the streets. Evolving from a sensational object of pity to the urbane and witty favourite of the aristocracy and literati, his belief that he can become a man like any other is a dream tragically never realised.
NOTE: Prior to West End the play will have Five preview performances at Wimbledon Studio Theatre from Mon 26 Friday 30 March 2007
