Ring Round the Moon to close early 29 March 2008

Ring Round the Moon, has posted early closing notices at the Playhouse Theatre for 29 March 2008. (It was booking to 24 May)

A press statement said: "Despite positive reviews, ticket sales have not been sufficient to sustain the run and therefore the producers have made the difficult decision to close the show."

The comedy by Jean Anouilh, adapted by Christopher Fry, opened at the Playhouse Theatre 19 Feb 2008, following previews from 5 Feb 2008, to good notices from the popular press: THE INDEPENDENT says, "Entertaining revival." THE GUARDIAN says, "It confirms Anouilh was a master theatrical magician." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Stuffed with good things." THE TIMES says"Plenty of good, entertaining lines.."

The cast includes JJ Feild (Hugo/Frederic), Belinda Lang (Mother), Angela Thorne (Madame Desmortes).

It is directed by Sean Mathias, designed by Colin Richmond, lighting by Mark Henderson and sound by Gregory Clarke. Produced by Karl Sydow and Act Productions

Set at a glamorous society ball in 1950’s France. Identical twins, a spoilt millionairess, a mysterious ballet dancer and a wily old Aunt are swept up in a dazzling dance where caution and convention are thrown to the wind. A comedy of mistaken identity, romance, money and moonlight.
