Mamma Mia! confirms transfer to Prince of Wales Theatre from 27 May 2004

It is now confirmed that Mamma Mia! will transfer to Prince of Wales Theatre from 27 May 2004, following the closure of the show at the Prince Edward Theatre on 22 May 2004

(Tickets for performances from 27 May 2004 to 5 March 2005 go on sale from 1 December 2003)

When the show transfers to the £7 million refurbished Prince Of Wales Theatre, the sets will be fully automated, there will be new props, and the glitter-dust, sequin, silver, tinsel, Lycra and flare quotient will rise to new heights of excess!

Mamma Mia! , based on the songs of ABBA, opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6th April 1999, following previews from 23rd March 99, to rave reviews and smash business.

There are now 10 productions of MAMMA MIA! showing simultaneously around the world - more than any other current musical. Since its stage premiere in 1999, MAMMA MIA! has grossed over £100,000,000 in London and over a half a billion dollars worldwide.

The cast currently includes: Louise Plowright (Donna), Alexandra Jay (Sophie), Samuel Board (Sky), Kim Ismay (Tanya), Myra McFadyen (Rosie), Tim Wallers (Harry), Michael Simkins (Sam), Rohan Tickell (Bill).

The show has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.

This original musical, which is a story of a mother and daughter set on the eve of the daughter's wedding, has a book by Catherine Johnson.

It is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

It is choreographed by Anthony Van Laast and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
