American Idiot will now run 3 to 16 Dec 2012

Green Day's American Idiot, has added an extra week to its run at the Hammersmith Apollo. It will now run from 3 to 16 Dec 2012, following a UK tour.

MThe musical, based on American rock group's album of the same name, features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. The book is by Armstrong and Michael Mayer.

It is directed Michael Mayer, designed by Christine Jones, lighting by Kevin Adams, choreography by Steven Hoggett, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Tom Kitt and produced by SJM Concerts and Flying Entertainment.

American Idiot is the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. Songs include“Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday” and the title track “American Idiot”.

Winner of two Tony Awards and the 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, AMERICAN IDIOT premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009. In April 2010, the musical opened on Broadway and ran for over a year.
