" Big Friendly Giant (BFG) at the Playhouse from Nov 02

Roald Dahl’s The Big Friendly Giant (BFG), will be at the Playhouse Theatre from 13th Nov 02 to 5th Jan 03.

This children's play was first staged in 1990 and this production of The BFG was originally staged last December to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first publication of the book. Since then it has toured over 30 venues countrywide.

The Big Friendly Giant (BFG) is adapted and directed by David Wood.

The cast includes Anthony Pedley , who first created the role of BFG on stage, in the title role. The rest of the cast includes Karen Briffet, Glen Hill, Anthony Hoggard, Verity Ann Meldrum, Carolyn Murray, Rebecca Rainsford, Stephan Bessant.

It is designed by Susie Caulcutt, lighting by Jeanine Davies, with music by Peter Pontzen.

BFG tells how a young orphan, Sophie, gets snatched from her bed and whisked off to Giant Country by the BFG, a 15 foot high giant with a jumpy way of walking. She narrowly escapes being guzzled like a whiffswhiddle by such nasty child-chewing giants as the Fleshlumpeater and the Bonecruncher.
