Lynsey Britton as ‘Miss Adelaide’ in Guys and Dolls, from 11 Sep 2006

Lynsey Britton will take over the role of ‘Miss Adelaide’ from Claire Sweeney in Guys and Dolls, from 11 Sep 2006 at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Lynsey Britton , who has previously covered the role of Miss Adelaide as an understudy, has previously appeared in West End musicals including “Calamity Jane”, “Cats” and “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”.

The show currently features Adam Cooper (Sky Masterson, to 7th Oct); Claire Sweeney (Miss Adelaide, to 9th Sep, then Lynsey Britton from 11 Sep); Patrick Swayze (Nathan Detroit, to 7th Oct); Kelly Price (Sarah Brown, to 7th Oct).

Guys and Dolls, opened at the Piccadilly Theatre on 1 June 2005, following previews from 19 May 2005, to moderate notices from the popular press: PAUL TAYLOR for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Utterly elating revival..this production looks to be a sure-fire winner." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, " There is much to enjoy, passages when the show undoubtedly achieves lift-off, but it never quite achieves that sense of pure and continuous pleasure .." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "A visit to the Piccadilly will bring you terrific music, great fun, one or two excellent dance numbers..." LISA MARTLAND for THE STAGE says, "Consistently nice and even joyful but rarely does one get the gut feeling that something exciting is taking place."

Guys and Dolls has music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. It is directed by Michael Grandage; designed by Christopher Oram; choreography by Rob Ashford, lighting by Howard Harrison; and sound by Terry Jardine and Chris Full.

The show is produced by Howard Panter for The Ambassador Theatre Group and David Lan for Clear Channel Entertainment, in association with the Donmar Warehouse's own production team.

Brings to life the Broadway of the 1940's, inhabited by gamblers, nightclub performers and members of the Salvation Army, in search of sinners to cure. The score includes numbers as 'Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat', 'Luck Be A Lady Tonight' and 'Take Back Your Mink'.
