Did you go to training school, if so which one?
I never formally trained, all my training has been "on the job."

Briefly tell us how you became involved with Deathtrap.
My agent sent me the play in February of last year and told me that Matthew Warchus and Simon Russell Beale were attached. Before I even read it, I knew I wanted to be involved to get the opportunity to work with them. Then, I fell in love the play and the role. I auditioned for Matthew and got the job!

Your first stage performance?
My 7th Grade play - the story of Hercules. I was Horse Head #4 and Hydra Head #9.

Career highlight to date?
I've truly gotten something out of each job that I've had, but Spring Awakening was the show that really changed my life.

What roles would you most like to play?
Roles that scare me.

What's the best advice you've ever received?
Don't let the world define you.

What has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?
Forgetting the lyrics to "Left Behind" in Spring Awakening on Broadway.

If you had not become a performer, what might you have done instead?
I would have been a teacher.

Who are your favourite actors/actresses?
Simon Russell Beale, Cate Blanchett, James McAvoy, Juliette Binoche, Kate Winslet, Paul Newman, Jude Law

What was the last book you read, and name some of your favourite authors?
I am currently reading The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. The last book that I read was Life of Pi by Yann Martel. My favorite authors are Alice Munro and John Irving.

What was the last film you saw, and name some of your favourite movies?
Most recently, I saw Winter's Bone. I love Mary Poppins, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Revolutionary Road, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, to name a few.

Favourite TV programs?
“I Love Lucy”

Favourite holiday destinations?
Rome

Do you have any hobbies?
Running, biking, swimming, reading.

What are your future plans?
To explore and enjoy London as much as I can while I am here performing in Deathtrap.

Jonathan Groff Credits
Jonathan Groff, appeared in Deathtrap at the Noel Coward Theatre. He is well known for his role on TV in the Fox series Glee as the lead vocalist of the rival glee club, Vocal Adrenaline, and love interest for Lea Michele's character, Rachel Berry.

His Broadway credits include 'Melchior Gabor' in the Tony Award-winning musical, Spring Awakening. He created the role Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theatre Company, prior to reprising the role on Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

Following his run in Spring Awakening, Groff starred as Claude Hooper Bukowski in The Public Theater’s revival of Hair, as part of The Public Theater’s “Shakespeare in the Park”. Also for Public Theater: 'Dionysus, the God of wine', in Euripides' The Bacchae, and opposite Olympia Dukakis in The Singing Forest. He played 'Billy' in the Off Broadway production of In Prayer for My Enemy, at Playwrights Horizons.

Groff also recently completed production on two upcoming films – The Conspirator and Twelve Thirty.
