What the popular press had to say.....
PAUL TAYLOR for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Excellent Donmar revival...Warmly recommended." NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Small Change, which premiered in 1976, is directed by the author in characteristically austere style, with pitch-perfect performances. It strikes me now, though, as one of his less rewarding works." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "A vivid reminder, in the author's own immaculate staging, that working-class realism can be poetic, swift and resonant."DOMINIC CAVENDISH for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "One of the least ostentatious pieces of theatre I've ever seen. It's also one of the most intricately arranged, as refined as poetry...Highly recommended"; JEREMY AUSTIN for THE STAGE says, "Confusing, over-written story...doesn’t wear its age well. "SAM MARLOWE for THE TIMES says, "A potent and poetic distillation of the everyday...Gill’s production is, like his writing, spare and pungent, and it is beautifully and precisely acted. "
