Born in Argentina in 1981, Stephanie Beatriz moved with her family to the United States at two years old. Beatriz is a television and film actress, best known for her role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Beatriz will make her West End debut in 2:22 - A Ghost Story at the Gielgud Theatre.
From an early age, Beatriz was drawn to live performances, whether it was in plays, debate club or public speaking. She then graduated with a theatre degree from Stephens College in Missouri, and then moved to New York City. Her early TV credits include episodes of The Closer, Southland and she played Sonia in four episodes of Modern Family.
Beatriz’s break came in 2013, cast as Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She appeared in all eight seasons, and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Television Program at the Imagen Awards — a ceremony that celebrates Latina actresses.
In 2017, Beatriz starred in The Light of the Moon alongside In The Heights’ Olga Merediz. A few years later, her In The Heights connection would become more personal, as she played Carla in the 2021 film adaptation of In The Heights. She’s even a Disney princess, voicing Mirabel Madrigal in the Disney animated film Encanto.
Throughout Beatriz’s career, she has performed in shows at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Yale Repertory Theatre. In 2021, she will make her West End debut in 2:22 - A Ghost Story at the Gielgud Theatre. She will star alongside Giovanna Fletcher, James Buckley and Elliot Cowan.
