Back to the Future: the Musical
Baz from The Daily Mail reports that the musical version of Back To The Future has been delayed to till at least 2016, following news that director Jamie Lloyd has withdrawn ‘amicably’ from the show after he and Bob Gale, who wrote the 1985 film and its two sequels, disagreed over the production’s direction. There were reported behind-the-scenes ‘creative differences’ just as workshops of the show were due to be staged. Jamie Lloyd told Baz that his decision to withdraw was ‘just a case of wanting to stand by my vision...You absolutely have to believe in it or there’s not much point,’ he said. Gale will now write the version of the show that he favours, and send it out to directors later next year. The Back to the Future musical will have a book by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale and Jamie Lloyd, and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, with additional music from the film by Huey Lewis & The News, Chuck Berry, Pat Ballard and Curtis Williams.
