Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour - London, The O2 Arena
Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour will return to London’s O2 Arena for its last stop on the 2017 tour! Since its inauguration in 2008 the tour has found huge success with fans of the much-loved television series desperate for a chance to see their favourite celebrity dancers live on stage. This is the tenth and final stop on the latest tour, and one of only two appearances in London - the SSE Arena Wembley hosts the tour for two nights prior to the O2 Arena performances.
Promising to be a huge spectacle, the tour will reunite contestants of the most recent series of Strictly Come Dancing with their professional dance partners, dancing again in competition to be voted the audience’s favourite act. Taking the form of an episode of the hit show, the live show will allow the audience to vote for the best dance of the evening, crowning another Strictly winner. Helping the audience in their decision will be the familiar faces of the television judges, offering criticism to the performers with their usual flair and eccentricity.
Previous tours have treated audiences to performances from several series winners, including Jill Halfpenny, Tom Chambers, Chris Hollins, Kara Tointon, Harry Judd, Louis Smith, Caroline Flack and Jay McGuiness. Whilst we’ll have to wait until Christmas to find out who our newest Strictly champion is, you can be sure that the tour will include great performances from the latest pool of celebrities fighting to lift that Glitterball trophy.
This year’s Strictly Come Dancing has attracted a great line-up of celebrity dancers, including MP Ed Balls, Olympians Greg Rutherford and Claudia Fragapane, singer Louise Redknapp, Pop Idol winner Will Young, as well as American singing star Anastasia. Familiar faces from television will include Eastenders’ Tameka Empson, Laura Whitmore, BBC presenters Ore Oduba and Naga Munchetty and ITV’s reality judge Robert Rinder. Lesley Joseph of Birds of a Feather will be strutting her stuff in the Strictly sequins, along with Hollyoaks hunk Danny Mac. Completing the line-up are DJ Melvin Odoom and model and actress Daisy Lowe. Many of these stars will be appearing in the live tour, and will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The judges appearing at this year’s tour will be confirmed shortly, though it is expected that Craig Revel Horwood will return once again, both as judge and as tour director. Mel Giedroyc of The Great British Bake Off played host for the 2016 Strictly Live Tour and one can only hope that she will lend her unique charm and humour to the 2017 experience.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC1 on Saturday, 3rd September, and The Live Tour commences in January 2017. The tour is sure to be a sell-out success, and with only four dates avilable in London be sure to book your tickets today to avoid disappointment. And keep dancing!
