New Florian Zeller play to star Jonathan Pryce and Eileen Atkins in the West End
A new play by Florian Zeller is set to premiere in the West End, starring Jonathan Pryce and Dame Eileen Atkins.
The Height of the Storm has been translated by Christopher Hampton, much like his other plays, like the Olivier Award-winning The Father, and more recently The Lie at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
The play is about a couple, André and Madeleine, who have been in love for over 50 years. They are expecting a visit from heir daughters, when a bunch of flowers is delivered, and the couple receive an unexpected visit from a woman from the past.
The Height of the Storm will run at Wyndham's Theatre from 2nd October until 1st December, with an official opening on 9th October.
Directed by Jonathan Kent, the production will star two-time Tony Award-winner Jonathan Pryce and three-time Olivier Award-winner Eileen Atkins.
Jonathan Pryce is best-known for his stage work in productions such as the Royal Court's Hamlet in 1980, which won him the Olivier Award for Best Actor. His other stage roles include The Engineer in the original 1989 production of Miss Saigon, Fagin in the 1984 revival of Oliver and Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady in 2001. More recently, he's appeared in King Lear at the Almeida in 2012, and the Shakespeare's Globe production of The Merchant of Venice in 2015.
Eileen Atkins' stage work includes the Old Vic's 1978 production of Twelfth Night, Passion Play at the Aldwych in 1981, An Unexpected Man in London and Off-Broadway in 1998 and Honour at the National Theatre in 2003.
The Height of the Storm is at Wyndham's Theatre from 2nd October until 1st December.
