Phil Daniels and Elizabeth Berrington join Martin McDonagh’s A Very Very Very Dark Matter

A Very Very Very Dark Matter

Further casting has been announced for the world premiere of Martin McDonagh’s new play A Very Very Very Dark Matter, which opens at the Bridge Theatre in October.

The play takes place in Copenhagen in the attic of the author Hans Christian Andersen, whose fairy tales included The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling and The Little Match Girl. Up in hi attic dwells a dark secret he has kept from the outside world.

Joining the already announced Jim Broadbent in the production, directed by Matthew Dunster, will be Johnetta Eula’Mae Ackles, Elizabeth Berrington and Phil Daniels.

A Very Very Very Dark Matter is at the Bridge Theatre from 12th October 2018 to 6th January 2019, with an official opening on 24th October.

Broadbent will play Hans Christian Andersen having previously appeared in McDonagh’s The Pillowman at the National Theatre.

Phil Daniels has appeared in the National the West End runs of James Graham’s This House, starred alongside Ian McKellen in the original Chichester production of King Lear, and has also appeared in Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre.

Elizabeth Berrington has most recently been seen on stage in London in Rasheeda Speaking at Trafalgar Studios, and has also appeared in Who Cares and The Low Road (Royal Court), and Holes (Arcola Theatre).

Johnetta Eula’Mae Ackles will make his professional debut in the play having recently graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

The production will have designs by Anna Fleischle with lighting by Philip Gladwell and sound by George Dennis.

A Very Very Very Dark Matter is at the Bridge Theatre from 12th October 2018 to 6th January 2019.
