Tim Howar to lead new cast of The Phantom of the Opera

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh have announced a new cast for the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera, which is heading into its 33rd year in London.

From 3rd September to 8th December 2018, actor Tim Howar will take over as The Phantom in the production. Howar was recently seen in the West End playing Freddie Trumper in Tim Rice's musical Chess at the London Coliseum. He is currently the lead singer with Mike and the Mechanics, and has also starred in Rock of Ages and Tonight's the Night.

Also joining the cast will be Kimberly Blake, who also appeared in Chess as well as the West End production of Half a Sixpence, as Carlotta, and Ross Dawes, previously seen in Girl from the North Country and The Rink, as Monsieur Firmin.

On Howar joining the cast, Mackintosh said: "Tim Howar's exciting vocal take on the iconic score of the Phantom brings a contemporary fresh approach to this legendary role which blew us away at his audition."

The continuing cast of  Phantom includes Kelly Mathieson as Christine, Jeremy Taylor as Raoul, Mark Oxtoby as Monsieur Andre, Jacinta Mulcahy as Madame Giry, Paul Ettore Tabone as Ubaldo Piangi, and Georgia Ware as Meg Giry.

Completing the cast is Matthew Barrow, Matt Bateman, James Bisp, James Butcher, Bridget Costello, Sophie Cottrill, Hadrian Delacey, Morven Douglas, Paul Erbs, Hannah Grace, Philip Griffiths, Katy Hanna, Hettie Hobbs, Grace Horne, Lily Howes, Ellen Jackson, Adam Robert Lewis,  Kris Manuel, Tim Morgan, Danielle Pullum, Rebecca Ridout, Anna Shircliff, Emily Smith, Rachel Spurrell, John Stacey, Andrei Teodor Iliescu, Claire Tilling, Victoria Ward and Danny Whitehead.

The Phantom of the Opera is booking at Her Majesty's Theatre until 2nd March.
