First look at Alexandra Burke as Roxie Hart in Chicago
Photos have been released giving a first look at Alexandra Burke in costume for her upcoming role of Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago.
Burke, who shot to fame when she won the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, takes over the role form actress Sarah Soetaert on 13th August, joining cast members Martin Kemp, Mazz Murray, Josefina Gabrielle and Paul Rider.
The West End production of Chicago, which opened on 11th April this year, is booking at the Phoenix Theatre until 5th January 2019.
It will be the second time this year Burke has been seen in a West End musical, having starred alongside Michael Ball in the London Coliseum revival of Chess. She has also starred in the West End production of The Bodyguard, as well as a UK and Ireland tour of Sister Act.
Last month, Kemp took over the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn from Cuba Gooding Jnr, who made his London theatre debut in the musical. Kemp is scheduled to perform in the show until 1st September, with subsequent casting announcements expected.
Chicago is booking at the Phoenix Theatre until 5th January.
