Images have been released showing the cast of Annie Baker's new play John in rehearsals for the production, which opens in the Dorfman at the National Theatre later this month.

The play is about a couple from Brooklyn on the rocks who arrive at a bed and breakfast in Gettysburg the week after Thanksgiving.

John stars Tom Mothersdale (Oil, Almeida) and Anneika Rose (Nell Gwynn) with June Watson (Road, Royal Court), Marylouise Burke (Into the Woods, Broadway) and Heather Rome (The Glass Menagerie).

Baker's play premiered off-Broadway at the Signature Theatre in 2015 starring Georgia Engel and Lois Smith, directed by Sam Gold. Baker's last offering at the National Theatre was The Flick, her Pulitzer Prize-winning play about the ushers working at a shabby cinema in Massachusetts. It was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2017, losing out to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

John runs in the Dorfman at the National Theatre form 17th January to 3rd March.#
