The Out of Body Experience

My first ever blog entry can only be about one subject - the 'out of body experience'. I'd never really taken much notice of this, until I went to see The Commitments musical at the Palace Theatre earlier this year. What happened to me was totally extraordinary. During some of the songs, I felt my whole body going into a spin, as if I was rising above the auditorium. Well, yes this may be a slight exaggeration, but I was certainly hit by a strange sensation. My whole body started to tingle at the mere sound of the opening bars of a song. This happened over and over again.

I found this particularly surprising at the start of the second act, as a song that I had not previously cared much for, 'I Can't Get No Satisfaction', also managed to send me into a new dimension. The singer that brought on this reaction was Killian Donnelly. Sadly, Killian is no longer in the production as he is getting ready for Memphis The Musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre where he will star alongside British soul queen Beverley Knight. Can't wait to see this!

I'm sure that I'll be returning to the 'out of body experience' theme in future blogs, as I've had many more since The Commitments! Including during one of the most serious plays that I've seen in recent years ... more on that soon!
