Now in its fifth thrilling year, Cirque Berserk! returns to The Peacock this February half-term to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the invention of circus, with a jaw-dropping spectacular that combines contemporary cirque-style artistry with adrenaline-fuelled stunt action. This talented troupe includes over 30 jugglers, acrobats, aerialists, daredevil stuntmen and the world’s most hair-raising circus act, the legendary motorcycle Globe of Death.

Choreographer and writer Lin Hwai-min’s new work takes inspiration from the legendary words of the Portuguese sailors in the 16th century, as they spotted the verdant land that would one day be known as Taiwan: “Formosa!” (“Beautiful!”)
With music by award-winning Taiwanese indigenous singer Sangpuy and projection designs made up of Chinese characters, the lines between tribal rituals and the bustle of the city begin to blur. Using gesture, script, music and other elements of the island, Lin explores how writing has a power to distort memories and erase history.
Flamenco and the lives of female artists from the Spanish Golden Age combine in this show inspired by the hidden voices of Teresa de Jesús, María de Zayas, María Calderon and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. Using flamenco rhythms, Rafaela Carrasco finds a way for these women to speak through the centuries.
