DARREN DALGLISH Return to previous page Home I was born on 6th September 1960 in Warsop, Nottinghamshire, in England. I became a vegetarian in 1996. I was a postman for 18 years until 1998 when I quit to work on my theatre guide full time : www.londontheatre.co.uk. It was in May 1994, at the age of 33, that I went to my first theatre production, "Rough Justice" at the Apollo Theatre. I was hooked immediately. In 1995, I connected to the Internet and noted that there was not much information concerning London theatre, and particularly no reliable information. It was then, in early 1995, that I decided, as a hobby, to put a simple listing of West End shows on the Internet. In the next couple of years the theatre guide grew and I was able to obtain sponsorship. In 1998, I was earning as much as I was as a postman and so took the risk of quiting a secure job after 18 years and risk running my own business. The theatre guide now supports me and I count myself fortunate to be paid for my 'hobby'! In August 2003, I created The New York Theatre Guide using the same design and format as the successful London Theatre Guide. In March 2008, I created with my partner, Topsightseeing.com, a travel guide of places we have visited - as I am equally passionate about travel!
