The UK premiere of Mark Shanahan’s A Sherlock Carol will open at the Marylebone Theatre this month. A Sherlock Carol begins previews on 18 November, ahead of an opening night on 23 November, and performances to 7 January.

In A Sherlock Carol, a grown-up Tiny Tim recruits Sherlock Holmes to explore the death of Ebenzer Scrooge. On a dark Christmas Eve, Sherlock must overcome his own ghosts to save Christmas for all. A Sherlock Carol performances will take place at Marylebone Theatre, close to 221B Baker Street, where Sherlock Holmes resides in the Arthur Conan Doyle stories.

A Sherlock Carol opened in New York in 2021. In a New York Theatre Guide review, a critic said: “The beauty of A Christmas Carol is that it's become a part of an annual tradition. The new holiday play works an exciting and refreshing script to the otherwise overdone classic story.”

Ben Caplan plays Sherlock Holmes, joined by Kammy Darweish as Ebenezer Scrooge, Rosie Armstong, Richard James, Gemma Laurie, and Damian Lynch.

Mark Shanahan writes and directs A Sherlock Carol. The show features set design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Linda Cho, and sound design by John Gromada.
