First look photos: James McAvoy in rehearsals for Cyrano de Bergerac

Rehearsal images have been released showing James McAvoy and cast in rehearsals for Jamie Lloyd's upcoming production of Cyrano de Bergerac.

McAvoy plays Cyrano and is joined by Adam Best, Adrian Der Gregorian, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Carla Harrison-Hodge, Chris Fung, Eben Figueiredo, Kiruna Stamell, Michele Austin, Nari Blair-Mangat, Nima Taleghani, Philip Cairns, Sam Black, Seun Shote, and Tom Edden.

The new version of Edmond Rostand's play is adapted by Martin Crimp, and kicks off a year-long season of work directed by Lloyd at the Playhouse when it opens on 27^th November.

Cyrano de Bergerac follows the titular poet-playwriter whose monstrously large nose puts off his love interest Roxane. Despite his successful writing career, his inability to woo his love consumes him.

The next play to be announced in Lloyd's West End season is Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House starring Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain, set to open in June.

Cyrano de Bergerac opens at the Playhouse Theatre on 27^th November.
