Full cast revealed for ‘Opening Night’, starring Sheridan Smith

The musical, which follows a theatre company's preparations to stage a new play on Broadway, will also star Benjamin Walker, Rebecca Thornhill, and Cilla Silvia.

The full cast has been announced for Opening Night, which stars BAFTA and Olivier Award winner Sheridan Smith. The new musical opens at the Gielgud Theatre on 6 March for a strictly limited season.

Joining the previously announced Hadley Fraser, Shira Haas, Nicola Hughes, Amy Lennox, and John Marquez, will be Tony Award nominee Benjamin Walker (American Psycho, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, All My Sons, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) as Maurice, Olivier Award nominee Rebecca Thornhill (Matilda, From Here to Eternity, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Les Misérables, Oklahoma!) as Kelly, Cilla Silvia (Pretty Woman The Musical) as Carla, Ian McLarnon (Sunday in the Park with George, Les Misérables, Pacific Overtures) as Leo, and Jos Slovick (Beautiful, Brief Encounter, Fiddler on the Roof, Once) as Gus.

The cast also includes Robert Finlayson, Daniel Forrester, Jennifer Hepburn, Issy Khogali, and Chrissie Perkins.

Opening Night has a book by Ivo van Hove, with music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright. It is directed and conceived by Ivo van Hove, and has set, lighting and video design by Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys, and sound design by Tom Gibbons and Alex Twiselton. Orchestrations are by Rufus Wainwright, with musical supervision and musical direction by Nigel Lilley. Movement and choreography is by Polly Bennett and the associate director is Daniel Raggett.

Based on John Cassavetes' 1977 film, the musical follows a theatre company's preparations to stage a new play on Broadway.
