Jason Donovan is set to appear in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat once again as he returns to the show when it plays the London Palladium this summer.

Donovan made his musical debut in the show back in 1991, when Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's seminal show was also staged at the historic London Palladium.

Back then, the Neighbours star with a successful pop career played the lead role of Joseph and had a number one hit single with the musical's song, "Any Dream Will Do".

For this summer production, Donovan will play the Pharaoh, the most powerful man in Egypt alongside the previously announced Sheridan Smith, who will play the narrator.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat plays the London Palladium starring Donovan and Smith from 27th June to 8th September, with tickets now on sale.

It is yet to be announced who will take on the lead role of Joseph, who has previously been played by the likes of Donny Osmond, Lee Mead and Philip Schofield.

Donovan played the role in 1991 at the Palladium, but had already made a name for himself for playing Scott Robinson in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. He launched his pop career in the late 80s, and had a hit single with his co-star Kylie Minogue, "Especially for You".

Last month, alongside the news of Smith's casting, it was revealed that Laurence Connor will direct the production.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is at the London Palladium from 27th June to 8th September.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tickets are available now.
