Sleepless, A Musical Romance begins at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre
The world premiere production is the first full-scale indoor musical to be performed in London since March.
Audiences and theatre fans are far from fatigued, as all eyes are awake and drawn to the highly-anticipated production of Sleepless, A Musical Romance, which begins performances this evening at the London's Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.
The new production, which celebrates its world premiere, announced last month that the musical would begin socially distanced indoor performances from 25 August, with strict socially-distancing measures in place, including temparture checks and face mask requirements throughout performances. Cast, crew, musicians, and theatre staff also undergo daily COVID-19 testing before entering the auditorium.
Michael Rose and Damien Sanders, the producers of SLEEPLESS, said, "We are so excited to be leading the way for our industry and to be the first fully staged, indoor musical back up and running and we have been working around the clock to make it possible. Uppermost in our minds has been the safety of our cast and crew and this new fast and accurate technology from GeneMe allows us to lead the way once more with daily COVID testing of our cast and crew which can give everyone involved peace of mind and create a happy and safe working environment."
Sleepless is a new musical romantic comedy that tells the heart-warming story of a widower Sam and his son Jonah who relocate to Seattle. When his son calls into a radio station and talks about his single, lonely dad, Sam becomes America's most eligible bachelor and an object of interest for Annie, a New York-based reporter. The production stars Jay McGuiness (Strictly Come Dancing, The Wanted) and Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud) in the roles of Sam and Annie, respectively.
