‘The Last Five Years’ transfers to Vaudeville Theatre this autumn
The two-hander musical was revived twice at Southwark Playhouse in 2020.
The Last Five Years will receive its long-awaited West End premiere in 2021, after two engagements at Southwark Playhouse. The Last Five Years will play from 17 September - 13 October at the Vaudeville Theatre.
Written by Jason Robert Brown, the two-person musical follows Jamie and Cathy at different moments in their relationships. Jamie’s story unfolds in a normal chronological order, while Cathy’s story is told in reverse, with the pair interacting in the middle.
Molly Lynch reprises her performance as Cathy, recently in The Light in the Piazza at the Royal Festival Hall alongside Dove Cameron and Rob Houchen. Oli Higginson will return as Jamie, who has previously starred in The Haystack at Hampstead Theatre.
Producer Katy Lipson said of the production: "I could never have dreamed of having the opportunity to bring this show into London's West End this year after our off-West End and digital outings last year. It will be our company’s West End musical debut and I am incredibly proud.”
In a five star review for LondonTheatre.co.uk for the Southwark Playhouse run, Matt Wolf said: "this The Last Five Years is more than fine: for the first time in my experience of a much-produced show, the characters’ giddiness and desolation, their rapture and heartache, propelled me tearily into the night.”
