About Endgame

On 15th March, The Old Vic released the following statement:

'Whilst we have no reason to disagree with current scientific and government advice on coping with the Coronavirus, given the new travel and other restrictions in place it is nevertheless becoming increasingly impractical to sustain business as usual at our theatre.

We are very sympathetic to people's personal circumstances, as we are to the audiences who are still excited to visit the theatre and see our productions. We are also extremely aware of our employees' financial dependence on work being presented and tickets being purchased. So it is with great sadness that we have had to decide to suspend the presentation of Endgame in a double bill with Rough for Theatre II for the next two weeks, which is the remainder of its run.'

If you booked tickets for Endgame with LondonTheatre.co.uk, you will be contacted regarding your booking in due course.

Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Cumming star in an exciting double bill of Samuel Beckett plays as Richard Jones directs Endgame and the short sketch Rough for Theatre II at the Old Vic.

Radcliffe and Cumming play Beckett's classic characters Hamm, a blind, old tyrant, and his servant Clov. The pair find themselves locked in a stalemate in this bleakly funny play which has in the past been performed by Mark Rylance and Simon McBurney,  Roger Blin and Jean Martin, and William Petersen and Ian Barford.

This production will pair Endgame with Beckett's short sketch, Rough for Theatre II, which sees two bureaucrats who find a man standing in front of an open window on the sixth floor of an apartment block.

Endgame is at the Old Vic from 27th January 2020 to 28th March.

Daniel Radcliffe is best-known for starring in all eight films in the Harry Potter series. On stage, he made his stage debut in 2002 in The Play What I Wrote at Wyndham's Theatre, and has also starred in Equus in the West End, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the Old Vic.

Alan Cumming is known for his onstage performances in Hamlet, his Olivier Award-winning role in Accidental Death of an Anarchist, and starring in a 2006 production of Martin Sherman's Bent.
