Fionn Whitehead to star in virtual production of ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’
The Oscar Wilde novel will be adapted with contemporary flair.
UPDATE: Full casting for The Picture of Dorian Gray has been announced. Alfred Enoch will play Harry Wotton, with Joanna Lumley as Lady Narborough, Emma McDonald as Sibyl Vane, Russell Tovey as Basil Hallward and Stephen Fry as the Interviewer.
After the success of What A Carve Up!, Henry Filloux-Bennett has written a new adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, which will be virtually presented. Fionn Whitehead will play the title role, available to stream from 16 - 31 March.
Now set in the present day, Dorian Gray is an influencer that's trying to maintain his perfect self. But as his mental health declines, his daily life becomes a struggle.
Fionn Whitehead will play Dorian Gray, whose professional credits include Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and the Academy Award-nominated war film Dunkirk. Further casting and creative team members are to be announced.
Filloux-Bennett writes the virtual play, with direction by Tamara Harvey. Reuniting once more, the pair said: "So many of us have found ourselves living in an ever more online world over the last year. But the benefits and the connections digital have offered us come with a darker side - deterioration in mental health, isolation, online manipulation to name just a few... we really wanted to explore what would happen if you brought Oscar Wilde's Faustian tale kicking and screaming into a world of Instagram, Facebook and dating apps."
The Picture of Dorian Gray will stream internationally and is available from 16 - 31 March. More information can be found here.
