Full casting for ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre announced

The open air theatre will welcome audiences back to the venue next month.

Ahead of Romeo and Juliet opening in June, casting for the title roles has been named. Romeo and Juliet will play at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 17 June - 24 July, now running a year after it was previously scheduled.

Joel MacCormack will play Romeo, previously starring in a radio adaptation of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. He's also been in Describe the Night at the Hampstead Theatre and The Oresteia at Shakespeare's Globe. Isabel Adomakoh Young will play Juliet, previously in Meatballs at the Hampstead Theatre. 

The full cast is completed by Cavan Clarke (Mercutio), Emma Cunniffe (Nurse), Peter Hamilton Dyer (Friar Lawrence), Michelle Fox (Tybalt), Aretha Ayeh (Benvolia), Ellie Beavan (Lady Capulet), Tom Claxton (Peter), Ryan Ellsworth (Lord Montague), Andrew French (Lord Capulet), Sarah Hoare (Gregora/Apothacary), Irvine Iqbal (Prince Escalus), Richard Leeming (Paris), Priyank Morjaria (Sampson), Louise Mai Newberry (Lady Montague), Shadee Yaghoubi (Abraham) and Marc Zayat (Balthasar).

Kimberley Sykes will direct William Shakespeare's fateful tragedy, following two young people who fall in love even though their families are in a long, locked feud against one another.

Other shows as part of the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre season include Carousel from 31 July - 25 September and Dragons and Mythical Beasts from 13 August - 5 September.

Romeo and Juliet is at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre from 17 June - 24 July.
