It is September 1939 and an announcement of war is imminent. This comedy-drama explores what happens when a scruffy evacuee from Yorkshire, Charlie Prouse, turns up in the refined Lincolnshire home of Jimmy and Jean Fraser.
How will the Frasers' daughter be affected by the bad-language and threat of head-lice? And how will her parents cope with a complete stranger who could end up staying indefinitely? Will Jimmy be called up, or will he volunteer?
One thing's for certain: nothing will ever be the same again.
