Following news that Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley will star in Cabaret, further details on the venue have been confirmed. The Playhouse Theatre will be renovated into an in-the-round space to stage Cabaret, ahead of performances beginning from November 2021.

A planning application has been submitted to Westminster City Council which details refurbishment work at the Playhouse Theatre ahead of Cabaret opening. You can read the planning application here.

The proposal states the following works will take place:

Convert the auditorium to a stage in the round layout (reversible)
Minor alterations at basement level and to dress and upper circle bar areas
Introduction of new level access in location of former opening
Internal redecoration, external new flue, replacement plant and associated works

In a statement from Ambassador Theatre Group, the renovation will: "Alongside the proposed entirely reversible transformation of the auditorium into the round we are seeking to make some minor, more permanent physical changes to the building... This will enable us to better provide for the new audiences, both for this unique production and for the longer-term future."

Cabaret will be directed by Rebecca Frecknall, and stars Eddie Redmayne as the Emcee and Jessie Buckley as Sally Bowles. For the London revival of Cabaret, the seating capacity will allow for a maximum of 550 patrons per performance.

Cabaret is at the Playhouse Theatre from November 2021.
