Something wicked this way comes! Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma will star in a site-specific adaptation of Macbeth in London next year. Macbeth will run in London from 11 February to 23 Mar. 2024.

Press material states the Shakspeare production will “break free from the confines of traditional theatres and instead be staged in four site-specific warehouses.”

Simon Godwin directs Ralph Fiennes as Macbeth, and Indira Varma as Lady Macbeth. The trio previously worked on Man and Superman at the National Theatre in 2015.

“Ever since we collaborated on Man and Superman I’ve longed to work with Indira Varma and Simon Godwin again… Simon’s visionary process is exceptionally collaborative... Shakespeare’s examination of the MINDS of his protagonists — the intimate nature of this — is what gives the play its brilliant and terrifying focus,” said Fiennes.

Emily Burns adapts Macbeth, and Frankie Bradshaw provides set design for the site-specific adaptation. Further casting and creative team will be revealed at a later date.

As part of the Macbeth tour, the show will play seasons in Liverpool from 24 November to 16 December, Edinburgh from 13 to 27 Jan. 2024, and Washington D.C. from 2 to 28 Apr. 2024.
