Aloff Theatre presents the world premiere of Telescope by Azerbaijani playwright Elchin at TESTBED1 in Battersea, south London from 25 February to 7 March 2015 as part of the Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts.

The production will star Chris Simmons and Tanya Franks and be directed by Matthew Gould. Described as an 'immersive adaptation' it will be performed in Testbed1's unique performance space which was formerly a Victorian dairy.

"Caught between life and death, relearning everything he thought he knew, the hero of Elchin's comedy 'Telescope' is a classic everyman. But as he sees the human world he has left behind from a new perspective, how will he cope with the surprises in store from the people he thought he knew best of all?"

Playwright and novelist Elchin was born into a literary family in Baku in 1943 and is today regarded as one of Azerbaijan's most eminent contemporary writers. His first novel appeared in 1959, when he was just 16, and he has had almost 100 books translated into more than 20 languages.

Aloff is a new theatre company dedicated to the promotion of new and classic works. Founded in 2014, by producer SananAliyev, to produce and tour English-language productions of plays from the established and merging independent repertoires of Azerbaijan.
